Meditation by Osho : Dynamic Meditation
Unlocking the hidden potential through Osho meditation
Osho was without doubt one of the most refined thinkers and philosophers of our times. He has coined the term dynamic mediation. He asserts, "This is a meditation in which you have to be continuously alert, conscious, and aware, whatsoever you do. Remain a witness. Don't get lost. While you are breathing you can forget. You can become one with the breathing so much that you can forget the witness. But then you miss the point. "
These were the words of Osho about dynamic meditation. He further says;
"Breathe as fast as possible, as deep as possible; bring your total energy to it but still remain a witness. Observe what is happening as if you are just a spectator, as if the whole thing is happening to somebody else, as if the whole thing is happening in the body and the consciousness is just centered and looking. "
And he he says at last;"This witnessing has to be carried in all the three steps. And when everything stops, and in the fourth step you have become completely inactive, frozen, then this alertness will come to its peak."
Stages of Dynamic Meditation
Breathing chaotically for 10 minutes: Breathe through the nose while concentrating on exhalation. The body will automatically take care of inhalation. The breath goes deeply into the lung. The process should be faster. However, you should always be focusing on exhalation.
Next 10 minutes of catharsis: This step is easier. We have to just express our innate feelings such as trauma; jealousy needs to be thrown out by screaming, shouting, crying, jumping, shaking, dancing, singing, and laughing. Don't worry for people reaction while doing all this. Do a little acting and that can be beneficial.
Third stage: It is again of 10 minutes. Just raise arms and jump up and down shouting the mantra, "Hoo! Hoo! Hoo!.
Fourth stage: It is of 15 minutes. Special music is used in this stage. It begins with the sound of 'Stop' in the CD. Freeze wherever you are when you hear this word. At this stage we are neither the body nor the mind. Try to be being a witness to everything that is happening around you.
And the last stage is of 15 minutes. Just celebrate through dance. Osho says, "Celebration is an attitude towards life and towards existence. It is something that can be learned. So in this stage the task is to pay attention to look into this moment hearing the music, feeling the movements of the body, be grateful to existence and to feel gratitude towards oneself. People with therapy oriented minds often have difficulty with looking into that direction."
Benefits of Dynamic Meditation
Osho has said, "The residues of trauma are mainly a consequence of incomplete processes which
means that the body is being stuck in the freezing response to an event which at the time of experiencing it was overwhelming to our nervous system. Because of this freezing response the nervous system retained a great amount of activation. Through learning to follow the movements of the body, we allow it to complete the instinctual reactions that the body would have liked to do and to release the energy that is locked up in the system."
